Adeyinka Shoyemi, 45, a Nigerian residence in West London has been sentence in UK for been a notorious tribalist.
This man became popular on Friday 23th of October 2020 when his video went viral on social media where he introduced himself as “Adeyinka Grandson”, in a video where he issued a stern warning to the Igbos living in Yoruba land, giving them a 48 hours ultimatum from Friday 23 of October to 25 October, 2020 to leave Yorubaland to avoid extermination.
He spoke with so much resentment that initially I felt he was not mentally okay but considering his coherency, I had to watch the video severally just to personally conclude that he is obviously suffering from the accretion of hatred that has lingered in his heart for a while, though that doesn’t justify his action/words.
This video trended but our leaders and security operatives ignored it, until it got the attention of London’s Metropolitan Police Service via the online reporting tool www.gov.uk/ACT.
This was obviously not the first time he was making such threats but this one went viral and people made their concern known officially through a petition.
At which point, The Met’s Counter Terrorism Command launched an investigation as a direct result of members of the public raising concerns to police about online social media posts which contained remarks aimed violence.
“This material was assessed by Specialist Officers within the Met’s Counter Terrorism Internet Referral Unit (CTIRU) and they found the post
very instigating and encouraging attacks against the Igbos in Nigeria.
He was arrested, his properties searched thoroughly and his mobile devices were seized while the investigation went on.
On Thursday, March 31st 2022, Adeyinka was sentenced to four-and -a-half year’s imprisonment, as he was found guilty on the 30th November 2021 of eight counts of inciting racial hatred after a trial at Southwark Crown Court.
We have almost forgotten this issue as almost everything on social media is seen as cruise in this country but the truth is that out of the abundant of the heart, the mouth speaks, Adeyinka is symbolic as he represent a per cent of some “hearts of darkness” who despite what is happening in this country, they are only concern with their tribes, while hating others for no just cause.
