Sports Minister Hosts Triumphant Nigerian U-20 Athletics
Championship Team, Laud Their Giant Strides.

Tuesday afternoon hosted the Nigerian contingent to the
U-20 World Athletics Championship who returned to the
country, Tuesday morning.
In a brief ceremony held at the Moshood Abiola stadium
Abuja, the Minister lauded the team for the unprecedented
feat of clinching a third position out of 116 countries that
competed at the World Athletics Championship in Nairobi,
Kenya. He stated that the giant stride was made possible by
the sheer hardwork and determination of the contingent,
restating that they are the future of sports and athletics
development in the country.
Mr Dare affirmed that President Buhari’s statement
commending the team’s performance is a testimony of his
support for the younger generation, whether in Sports,
Education, Politics or in whatever endeavour they commit
themselves.
Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and
Social Development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouk, Minister of
Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen, Minister of State for
Education, Emeka Nwajiuba who also attended the event,
showered encomiums on the team, stating they are a pride
of the nation and all citizens are grateful for the honour they
brought to the country.
It will be recalled that Team Nigeria won 4 Gold and 3
bronze medals, placing third behind Kenya and Finland in the
competition.
