Former Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard, has revealed
the message he received from one of the club’s
defenders, Thiago Silva after the Blues won the
Champions League last season.
Lampard brought the veteran Brazil international to
the club on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain
last year.
However, the former Chelsea midfielder spent just
five months at Stamford Bridge with Silva as he
was sacked by the Blues board in January following
series of bad results and replaced by Thomas
Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel came in and helped the Blues win
the Champions League, beating Manchester City
1-0 in the final in Porto.
But the veteran Brazilian defender took the
opportunity to privately thank Lampard for bringing
him to the club.
“As the dust settles I can take some happiness
from players like Mason, Reece, Tammy, some of
the older players, I hate to reflect, Thiago Silva sent
me a beautiful message after the game saying,
‘thanks for bringing me to the club and this
happened’,” he told Sky Sports.
“People who work with the club, I’m friends with
masseurs and physios and fans, when it settles you
can absolutely look at that with a much more
positive eye than the football side can sometimes
take you.”
